While on an awesome trip to Blowing Rock, NC last week, I dragged my men to tour the Moses Cone Manor. It's a beauty. Grandboy was not impressed (he usually has excellent taste, but he's 10, what can I say), but Hub and I really enjoyed it.
I'll be honest, I was taking a much needed break and read none of the historical information provided for viewers of the house. Moses Cone introduced denim, ready made clothing to the world and that's all I need to know to love the guy. Let's just look at the beautiful details in this 1901 house.
Here I'm walking up to the side of this Georgian Revival summer home. Let's get some rocking chairs on that fabulous wraparound porch!
Another angle of the side. One of Mr. Cones' hobbies was building roads. He built miles and miles of roads.
Just a hint of the unbelievable views from the house. My iPhone can't even begin to capture this kind of grandeur. Let's go inside.
I'm a sucker for deep window sills and solid millwork.
Here I am, sitting on one of those fab deep sills. I hope the guys at Madcap Cottage know how much I love their T shirt!
Look at that millwork. Now THAT'S wainscoting! And those sconces make me want to run out to my local antique sources and buy some. They bring such interest and personality to any room.
The artisans who made these windows must be very proud. The work is flawless.
Early 20th century shower fixture. Still gorgeous.
The mountains are pure magic. I feel rested and restored and can't wait to go back.
Ciao,
Anne
